Blue City

You’ve heard the phrase “painting the town red” as a reference for going out and having a good time. Although most of us have never seen this metaphorical place (wink, wink), a town does exist where everything is painted a most shocking shade of blue.Welcome to the ancient city of Chefchaouen, Morocco where the streets and buildings are washed a most shocking shade of blue. Religious teachings define the color scheme, and as you might imagine the picturesque streets make it is a popular tourist destination.

While the blue color might give an idea for what it might be like to live under a wave, the trick to color harmony is balancing it with other colors.

What is a good accent for bright blue? From the warm side of the palette, try yellow or orange. If you’re looking for a more subdued accompaniment, try aqua blue.
