Ask Erika: Kelly

by Erika Woelfel

Colorfully, Behr reader Kelly asked us about painting her open concept kitchen and living room. Read Erika’s advice below!

I have an open concept kitchen and living room. Currently, I have painted one wall Espresso Beans UL160-23 and do not know what color to paint the rest of the walls. I have natural cherry floors and cupboards and black furniture. I am trying to achieve a modern and sophisticated look. Can you suggest some colors?

Hi Kelly,

Thank you for your interest in BEHR paint!

Since you already have the Espresso Beans painted on one accent wall, you are pretty open to whatever color you might like.  I have made a list of some colors that might work for you and keep a modern esthetic.  You might consider one of the following: Aged Beige PPU7-9 (very neutral beige), Wasabi Powder PPU9-10 (light olive green), Oslo Blue (PPU13-13) or Yellow Wax Pepper PPU9-13 ( light greenish yellow).  I hope you like one of the choices!  Good luck with your paint project!

Please keep in mind that electronic devices and monitors have inherent limitations that can result in a discrepancy in the exact appearance of color shades. We can recommend beginning with an 8 oz. sample container of the color you choose  and applying it to a small area to ensure your satisfaction with the color choice. It is always a good idea to try a small sample on the wall or hang up a paint color swatch to see how the light affects the color at different points in the day.
